Dear Daughter,
It is cloudy here today. Our temp is 54 degrees, and it's going up to 69 degrees, and they mentioned a few showers.
Last night, we went to Church it wasn't raining, but when we came out, it was raining quite steadily, but I had my umbrella, so Annie and I walked under the umbrella. She said she couldn't afford to get her hair wet, because she had just had it fixed on Saturday.
Brother Prentiss spoke to us last night. He said, in his sermon, that music was the main issue of conversation today. He said that that the Bible didn't say to do it, and, we, certainly, were not to use it. I was very glad that he said that, and he preached about Crossover People, and I really did enjoy that. It was about the Jews crossing over and their trials and tribulations.
When it was over, I asked him if he remembered living om Forest Avenue, and, of course, he did. I also asked him if he remembered that we lived up the street, and, of course he did, so we had a nice little chat.
I think Daddy is feeling well today. He is still asleep.
I hope the second graders will act "normal" today.
Hope you have a very good day -
Thanks for coming. We both enjoyed it, very much. Thank you for taking us out for three good meals, and for taking me shopping. I enjoyed it very much. And thank Stan for fixing our phone and our computer!
Much love, M & D

Dear Mother:
Good Monday morning. How are things in Nashville this morning? Did you get any rain? It doesn’t appear that there was any rain here last night but, on the weather radar this morning, there are showers dotting north Mississippi. It wouldn’t hurt us at all to get some rain so I hope we get at least a shower.
We had a really pleasant drive home yesterday, but we went a partially different route. Both of us thought it was better to avoid I-40 so we headed east on Hillsboro Road (U.S. 431) to Franklin. From there we took U.S. 31 South to U.S. 412 West until it intersected with the Natchez Trace. From there, we took our usual route through Tupelo and then to Oxford on Highway 6. In the end, it just took us 4 ½ hours and it was just 10 miles longer than the I-40 route. Aside from a few traffic lights at the first of our trip in Franklin, it was a good route and didn’t take us any longer than our other routes plus we got to see some lovely mid-Tennessee scenery.
Since we got home at a decent hour, we were able to get ready for our week without too much stress. We had sandwiches for dinner and then piddled around. I was in bed by 8:30 and asleep by 9:00 (I had to read some more of my Scottish time-travel novel!). So I guess I’m more or less ready for today but I’m not too worried. I’ll just see the second graders today and tomorrow since we will be leaving for Biloxi at 11:00 on Wednesday. So how bad can the second graders be for just 2 days??? Don’t answer that! I'll see the third graders all three days but I look forward to them.
Hope you all can rest and relax today. And I really, really hope neither of you caught a cold. Take some extra vitamin C for a few days and get plenty of rest so you can fight off any cold germs that might have been floatinig around. Take care!!
Bye--Ruth
