no news good news

Dear Daughter,

The sun is shining, and the wind is blowing softly, and there are some white clouds floating around. It really is a pretty day.

Daddy and I both are both as well as could expected. He doesn't complain about staying inside so much, and that is good.

I went to Hecht's and bought two pairs of hose at a greatly reduced price for $l.87. They were $2.49, plus another 25 per cent off for no reason. So, maybe we can go while you are here. I got a little walking done, and a little walking done is better than no walking at all, or so they say.

They say no news is good news, but I don't know if that is true or not. Anyway, all is well with us. I'm going to Church tonight, so that 's the reason I'm writing a little early.

I hope, so much that the Second Graders were good today. I'm pretty sure the Third Graders were.

Hope you and Stan have a pleasant evening -

Much love, M & D

Dear Mother:

Stan and I did go out to eat tonight and didn’t get home until 7:15 so I’m going to make this short since I’ve had a 12-hour day. Also, I just got off the phone with Buddy so I’m thirty minutes later writing than I would have been otherwise! Whew!

Well, my day went pretty well. I never know what to say about the second graders. They are just SO active and squirmy and talkative and unfocused. But they aren’t mean children so I guess that’s something to say positive about them. The third graders kept me busy today not because they were being loud or bad but because I was trying to teach them to make change and they were clueless. I kept showing them how to count out change with our play money but they had never heard of such a thing so it took a lot of one-on-one work with them. Still, I think they learned a lot and I think they were very proud of themselves for mastering a new skill.

For whatever reason, I got started on doing Reading Fair stuff after my afternoon duty and I just wanted to get this particular task done (getting out information and registration forms to teachers) so I worked until 5:00. It was 5:15 when I got home and the phone was ringing when I walked in. Stan was calling saying that he was almost home so I went right back outside and waited in the driveway for a minute until Stan pulled in. I hopped in the car and off we went to Applebee’s. After that, we went to Wal Mart so that’s why it took so long for us to get home.

I hope you had a good time at church. Until tomorrow morning…

Bye--Ruth
