Dear Daughter,
I didn't go out today. I told Daddy that I was not going out today, and he was very well pleased with that. I didn't really have to go out, and I was busy, hemming a skirt, so I thought for one day I would stay home.
Jane called me at 2:00 this afternoon, and said that the surgery was all set for an operation, when they looked at it, they discovered that the appendix was fine, that there was no need of going in and taking it out. Howard called Jane at noon, and told her the sad news. Apparently, the doctors in do not why Margaret Anne is hurting so badly. Jane said that she is not to go back to work for a while. She said that Frederick was out clearing their place for a garden next year - just anything to do. She said that Fred was playing with his dog. He is so hurt, too, about Margaret Anne.
Daddy cooked an omelet today, and we ate half of it for lunch. Then he ate the rest of it this afternoon.
I have to go out tomorrow to get some Synthroid for Daddy. I'm not sure whether we will eat out or not, but we probably will.
That's about all I know. I didn't realize you were going to Biloxi Wednesday. Will you stay through Friday?
Hope the Second Graders were a little better today than usual.
Hope you have a pleasant evening -
Much love, M & D

Dear Mother:
Thanks for your letter, Mother. I’m glad that you didn’t have to go anywhere today since you had plenty to do this weekend and a day of rest was good for you. And thanks for telling me about Margaret Anne. That’s really too, too bad about her trouble not being caused by her appendix. I know Frederick and Jane are worried and I wish there were something we could do or say to help but there isn’t. I’m sure, in the end, they’ll figure it out but I know it worries them and I know that it is causing Margaret Anne big problems with her career. Suddenly being out of work for several weeks or months is a very bad thing for a high-powered career person. Do let me know what happens whenever you find out.
We were surprised today to get a letter from Buddy saying that he had changed his mind and that he DID want our Grand Prix at Thanksgiving. So, suddenly, we are back in the car market. I told Stan that there just isn’t time to do anything this week (since I’m leaving at noon on Wednesday) but that next week sometime, we’ll start shopping in earnest. So we feel turned topsy-turvy but we’ll adapt and take care of it. Never a dull moment….
School was so-so today. I enjoy my 3rd graders, one of the 2nd grade classes is fine, one of the 2nd grade classes is tolerable, and one of the 2nd grade classes is abysmal. Oh, well, all years come to an end and this one will. This week is the end of the first nine weeks so we’re making progress! We had a faculty meeting after school so I sat at the back and kept my head down. We were through by 3:45 so I was the first one out the door. I have been busy since I got home arranging a field trip for next week, catching up on email, and taking care of paying bills. I cooked dinner and now, finally, I think I’ll take a break and watch Spiderman on TV!!!
Hope you all continue to do well and that you don’t get a cold. Take care of yourselves!
Bye--Vicki
