buying a car

Dear Daughter,

It is now so foggy that you can hardly see a person who is ahead of you. But I guess it will clear off soon. Glad that we don't have to get out today.

At least not to stay too long. Daddy wants a few things from the grocery. He is going to make an egg omelet today for lunch, so I have to buy some onions, etc.

I know you are happy to be home this morning. I think it is going to a nice day.

You know the football games today! UT vs Georgia is played tonight at 6:30, and I will have to check the paper to see when the others are playing. Love to see Ole Miss play.

So, I'll write you again tonight -

Buy a pretty car!!!

Much love, M & D

Dear Mother:

I can hardly believe that we bought a Crown Victoria today! It's not every day that you buy a car, you know. But apparently we did buy a car and so I guess we will be driving it Buddy after I talked to you and then, while we were talking, Phil called Buddy so, as soon as Buddy hung up, Phil called me. Having talked to everyone in the family and having told the story of the car three times, I think everyone knows everything they need to know.

Phil chatted with me about baby things--all is going well--and Buddy chatted about apartment things. He said Anna was coming over after lunch and they were going to go shopping. He wanted help picking out curtains for his apartment so they were going to go see if they could find some that he liked. Both boys sounded happy and both thought the car sounded just right for a little old lady--namely me!!

Stan went to play 9 holes of golf this afternoon and I went to Kroger's but we both made sure that we were home before the Ole Miss game was finished. Stan and I have eaten our dinner and now he is engrossed with watching the end of the baseball game. I'm reading my current book and looking forward to an early bedtime.

I'll write tomorrow afternoon. Hope you enjoy the UT game.

Bye--Ruth
