grocery list

Dear Daughter,

I got up a little late this morning. I think, from last night's weather report that it's going to be cloudy most of the day.

Had a note from Buddy, saying, after I wrote him a brief note from me, that we were playing bingo tonight, from 7 to 8. So I had a note back from him that he would call us after the bingo game to talk. We are so happy to talk with him.

Phil called last night, and we had nice conversation. He is fine, and he said Marla was in bed. She had come home, after her work, had stayed in the bed, fixed dinner, then went back to bed. He said it won't be long before Baby comes!

I certainly don't plan to out today. We will eat lunch in the cafeteria, see Charlie, when he comes to announce the bugman, and see Rita and Harry briefly, I'm sure, and then just sit at the TV and crochet. I'm, really enjoying the little squares. How did you ever influence me to crochet again? But I'm so happy you did.

Daddy is fine. He just weighs 145, but he seems to be doing very well, and I can't tell you how happy that makes me.

Here are the groceries I want you to bring, and it's kind of you to do it:

About 12 rolls of Angel soft bathroom tissue
Paper towels, Bounty
2 gallons of distilled water for the oxygen tank
5 cartons of Mountain Dew
1 carton of vanilla coke, like you were drinking

Thank you so much for all you have done for us!!

Hope the children behave today -

love you, M & D

Dear Mother:

After last week with its messed up schedule and cancelled classe and after a weekend followed by a conference day, we will have students again today. It will be something of a small jolt to get back into the swing of having classes but it had to happen sometime.

What is there to say about an evening that only lasted 2 hours? I got home at 7:15 and was in bed by 9:00 so there wasn’t much time to do anything. Stan was talking to his mother when I got home so it was 7:30 before I even got to say hello to him. As you can tell, that made for a very short evening so I didn’t do much except chat with Stan a bit, take a shower, and assemble a few things for school. The second graders voted to have "Science Experiments" as their unit for the next several weeks so we are doing science experiments—imagine that! I’m trying to get all these experiments organized into conceptual groups so that they make sense as we do them. The experiments we’ll do today will focus on air pressure vs. water pressure. Which is stronger? I fear that it will be a messy day so we’ll do several of the experiments outside.

Not much else is going on here. I have not talked to Buddy in over a week and I told you about my conversation with Phil on Saturday (while I was driving home) so there’s no news on those fronts. I know that lots will be happening over the next several weeks so I’m not all that anxious to spend lots of time on the phone. I figure that in about a month, I’ll have plenty of time to talk to both boys!

Well, sorry to be so boring but I haven’t done much over the last day or so. Maybe I’ll be able to relate some exciting events from our day at school. Hope you all have a good day, too. Enjoy your brief visit with Rita and Harry and enjoy the lovely weather.

Bye--Ruth
